Saudi National Day is just around the corner, a day cherished by Saudis young and old alike. It’s a time to celebrate our identity and unity, each in their own way. In this article, we share a simple and fun DIY activity that you can enjoy with your kids to mark this joyful occasion.
Supplies:
- A large piece of cardboard
- Pencil
- Scissors or cutter
- Paint or spray paint
- Colored markers
- Glue
- Paintbrush (optional)
Steps:
-
Prepare the Cardboard
The first step is to pick the right cardboard size for the sword your child envisions. Together, you can decide on the perfect size and shape.
-
Draw the Sword
Using a pencil, sketch the basic outline of the sword on the cardboard. Guide your child as they add details, or let them add their own creative touch. -
Cut the Sword
Use scissors or a cutter to carefully cut out the sword shape. Be sure to supervise your child closely during this step to ensure safety. -
Colors
Now comes the fun part! It's time to paint the sword using paint, spray paint, or markers. Feel free to use national colors like green and white, or add designs and national symbols to personalize the sword. -
Assemble the Parts
The sword needs a handle, so now is the time to add it. Cut out a rectangle-shaped piece of cardboard and use glue to attach it as the handle. Allow the glue to dry before continuing with further decorations. -
Enjoy the Sword
Once the sword is completely dry, it's ready for play! You can use it in a traditional Saudi dance, or simply as part of your home's National Day decorations.
Do you and your family have a special tradition for celebrating National Day? Creating a DIY sword with your kids is a fun and meaningful way to bond, get creative, and celebrate this important day together.
