A To-Do List for Returning to Our Roots

A To-Do List for Returning to Our Roots

As we enter the third week of September, we start to see the signs of autumn around us. The initial chaos of the month is settling, routines are slowly forming, and all these cozy details bring calm to our hearts as we reflect deeply on them.

In this edition, we explore:

  • Our children as ambassadors of their culture.
  • Simple activities to reconnect with our roots.
  • The upcoming excitement for Saudi National Day.

General Thoughts

We often speak about roots and the Arab identity that belongs to us as much as we belong to it. Everything starts in childhood—from our grandmothers’ stories to the folk songs we’ve memorized by heart or stumbled upon and felt a connection to. Now, we pass these on to our children, teaching them to cherish their culture, no matter how simple, obscure, or seemingly odd it may appear to outsiders.

This pride is what fuels their interaction with the world, providing them with the confidence to be ambassadors of their culture, proudly representing and defending it with strength and belief.

How Do We Do This? A Practical To-Do List…

We’ve gathered about twenty simple activities to help children explore their roots and strengthen their cultural identity—you can download them from here. Among these activities is celebrating national occasions, which brings us to:
